A native New Yorker with a penchant for the coasts, Caryn Kupferman started performing when she was a teenager, busking in Harvard Square and San Francisco. Save for a brief stint in L.A. singing standards with a jazz trio, she spent the next few decades avoiding the stage, but continued to write songs in between pesky day jobs and full time life. In 2005, she was given an opportunity to work with producer Evan Brubaker (Holly Figueroa, Edie Carey, Kym Tuvim) on her first cd release; Pitch Black Mile. The album is a haunting blend of original jazz, folk and pop, featuring Eyvind Kang on viola and Joel Litwin on percussion.
Think jazz meets folk meets funk meets poetry, with real time passion and relentless groove.
