Egan's This Friday - August 22, 2008

I'll be at Egan's in Ballard this Friday, Aug. 29th, along with Brian Butler! Very excited to share the stage with such a phenomenal blues player. I'll open at 9:00 and Brian will go on at 10:00. Egan's sticks to a pretty tight schedule, so we will too.

Hope you can make it out for a night of rhythm and blues, pure blues, and other good stuff...

what I've been up to - July 23, 2008

I've been in the recording studio working on a second album. Simply put, life doesn't get any better than this. Oh sure, I cry and wail and worry, but what better way to live? We laugh a lot, too, and I've been getting to play with the best musicians. Heaven. This. Is. Expect a cd release with full band this fall.

In the meantime, I'll be at Egan's the last Friday in August, along with Seattle's own blues man; Brian Butler.

Between now and then I'll be heading for a glorious week at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, and then riding my new used Specialized RockCombo around Seward Park (thanks, Bike Works)!

Find some happiness out there,

Caryn

Conor Byrne InstaBand! - May 1, 2008

Have the wonderful opportunity to open for Holly O'Reilly this Friday. I've long loved her work - her writing and her voice just knock me out.

Thing is, they were only booking bands. So, I contacted some PSGW musician friends of mine who graciously agreed to learn my tunes in, oh, a few seconds flat. Thank you, Robin and Lance!

C'mon out and check out the show if you can. It's Holly's birthday, so it should be quite the party. :)

wish I'd written that - April 7, 2008

Kym Tuvim, a brilliant local musician who way more people should know about, is having a cd release on Sunday, April 20th.

This album is amazing, and her live show with full band is not to be missed.

If you're into deep, resonant vocals, blazingly skillful blues guitar, and songs that cut to the heart and truth of matters both painful and joyful, you will love her.
This is the real deal, folks. Check out her website and read some of the reviews she's been getting nationally. Her songs just pulse with an honest, aching beauty. She's the songwriter that most often makes my "wish I'd written that" list. I really can't say enough about her, please just GO and you can thank me later. :)

Get your tickets at BrownPaperTickets.com. The show's at the Columbia City Theatre, Sunday, April 20th.

See you there!

Egan's Rocks! - April 6, 2008

Had a really fun show with Eileen Cuba on Saturday night. Thanks to all of you who came by!

I'm feeling spring fever's itch. Should be booking more shows soon, so stay tuned...

Long Time - December 24, 2007

Hard to believe that it's been so long since I've played out, but I'll be at C&P's on Sunday, Dec 30th. It's an afternoon show (3:00-5:00pm) at that wonderful home-away-from-home coffeehouse in West Seattle.

This is a sweet reunion with my friend Janie Worm, who is back in Seattle for the first time in two years. She'll play a set with some special guests of her own, and then I'll play some of the old and new that I've been working on this fall.

Stop by for an easy afternoon before the new year...

Egan's Ballard Jam House - July 23, 2007

Come on out for dinner or drinks at Egan's in Ballard on Wednesday, August 29th. Nice early show for the middle of the week!

outrageously clever people -- and then there's me - April 29, 2007

Caught the "Prince Myshkins" on Friday night at West Seattle's Kenyon Hall. They're a duo from Madison that write whip-smart political satire. I laughed, I cried and I wished I could rhyme like that. See them the next time they're here!

In the meanwhile, I'll be performing my own boorish dribble on Friday night at World Cup. Stop by for a drink and dessert and a tune or two. I'd love to see you.

News - February 5, 2007

Hey, after almost a year of dragging my feet, I finally sent some cd's out to radio stations. Was played on KMTT (The Mountain) Sunday Brunch last week - thank you Drew Dundon! Want to call and ask him to do it again? It'd make my day. :)

Come down to Conor Byrne on Thursday, February 22nd for a Songsalive Showcase hosted by Carrie Clark. Five local songwriters and I go on at 9:30...

December - November 25, 2006

I love this month and how we become like cubs, huddled in our homes or braving the cold to meet up, out there, through the wet sloppyness. I love the way we crave company and comfort.

Come join the huddle at World Cup Espresso and Wine on December 16th.

J.D. Hobson, (www.jdhobson.com), a brilliant local blues player, will play from 8:00-9:00pm and I'll be on from 9:00-10:00.

Warmth, drink, music, friends. ... should be a good night.
Hope to see you there.

Pitch Black Mile - May 5, 2006

The cd is out!

Produced, engineered, and masterminded by Evan Brubaker (Kym Tuvim, Holly Figueroa, Edie Carey) at Spectre Studios in Tacoma, we recorded in the fall of 2005.

I was honored to work with incredible musicians who, for the most part, improvised the arrangements on the spot. These guys are geniuses and I'm not kidding... take a listen and you'll see what I mean.

Heartfelt thanks go out to Nathan and Leah for mind-blowing generosity and support in helping this project come to be.

Shout outs to my songwriting buds for inspiring me to work harder. And to Janie, for teaching me that the only way to move forward was to find something to love within my stubborn, resilient imperfection (there, I did it). And to everyone who is a part of Victory Music and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop - thank you for welcoming me in with such nurturing arms and for reminding me how vital community is... not to mention how good it feels to stay up til 3:00 am jamming.

Pitch Black Mile is available at cdbaby.com or come to a show and I'll hand deliver a copy.

Hope you enjoy.
